North of Alice.. The real outback!!

Tues. Feb 15th - We didn't leave Alice Springs until about 9:15 this morning and it was already 29C.  We headed north and soon passed the Tropic of Capricorn.  Funny as you head north from here it gets hotter.

We were just south of Aileron when we had to stop and wait as four beautiful wild horses crossed the road.  Then we just saw the longest road train - 4 trailers of fuel!  We got a picture of a three trailer road train meeting us on the road.








They've had a lot of rain in this area lately and we went through several spots where the water was still flowing over the road.  Most expensive diesel purchase yet just north of Wycliffe Well at Wauchope - $1.835/litre - $110.50 for 60 litres to fill.








We finally reached Karlu Karlu or Devil's Marbles in our trusty home on four wheels around 1:15 and it's 38C  ..... sweaty.....  Amazing rock formations.

Tracy lifted one that had fallen from its place atop another one.  That's why when she says jump, I jump!!!  I love her!  

Eugene split one with his bare hands.  The gym membership has paid off!!

The campgrounds we had passed on the way here looked a little "sketchy" so we decided to keep heading north to Tennant Creek another 100km.  We went past Tennant to a town called Three Ways which is 989 km south of Darwin before turning back south to spend the night in Tennant Creek at the Outback Caravan Park for $29.50 for a powered site.  We really wish we had more time to go all the way north or at least to Katherine which we hear is beautiful ....  I guess we'll have to save that for the next trip....
