One more night in Bangkok

You know that song "One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble"?   We decided to do one more night!!!

Monday morning.  Traffic was a little different today than yesterday.  Rush hour ..... very entertaining watching the bikes weaving through the traffic and up onto the sidewalks occassionally.  Seems like they are given the right of way over pedestrians or any other vehicles.  By the time a red light changes, all the bikes are ready at the front as if at the starting line of a race.  

We took the Chao Phraya Tourist Boat today-150b ($5each) for a one-day river pass.  We took the Skytrain to the Taksin station and walked to the Central Pier or Sathorn Pier.    First stop was the Grand Palace and the Wat Phra Kaeo which contains the Emerald Buddha.  A Wat is a temple.   Can't believe it until you see it .... such grandeur and opulence!  Then we went to Wat Pho which is the oldest and largest wat in Bangkok.  It was built in the 17th century.  It contains the largest reclining Buddha (46m long and 15m high) and also the largest collection of Buddha images in Thailand.  

Our next stop was "China town".  This was crazy.    It was wall to wall people, scooters/motorbikes, "dollar store" like vendors and "street meat" merchants.  And yes we had some type of alleged meat on a stick and boy was it good.  It was very hot out again today and we consumed a lot of water. 

 Quite an adventure!
